TABU S.p.A. is the Cantur-based company that represents Italian excellence in wood dyeing. With more than 90 years of history and present in more than 60 countries, TABU is renowned for its natural wood paneling made from thin veneers of stained wood finely assembled to create unique-looking yet perfectly replicable plays of inlays and thicknesses.
The beauty of TABU panels is enhanced by the textures, precise compositions that decorate rooms with much refinement.
It is precisely from textures that the idea of Memesi starts : transforming the materiality and tactile texture of veneers into taste. Food and design, two cornerstones of Made in Italy craftsmanship, come together to enhance each other in the praline format, chocolate decorated with the pattern of TABU collections.
The proposal is embodied in TastingTexture, the cadeau the company offered at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and the Fuori Salone event organized in Casa TABU with the collaboration of Marie Claire Maison.
Four textures were chosen and four ganaches associated with them: passion fruit, blueberry, ginger and lemon, and pistachio go with the geometries of Candy Stripes, SKEENS Optical, Onde Sonore, and Ulivo, respectively. The last two presented among the TABU novelties just during Milan Design Week 2023.
Memesi identified the textures together with the TABU team and then reconstructed them digitally. These, reproduced with food printing, are also taken up as a decorative element in the product packaging, designed specifically for the occasion and made of craft paper.
A focus goes to the environmental values the brand stands for, as a carbon neutral company working with multi-certified timbers.
